Coming home to the delicious aromas of food cooking in my crock pot is a treat. The added bonus is the simplicity and time saved by using my slow cooker. Plus, slow cooking is an excellent way to preserve the nutrients of foods. When food is cooked on high heat, toxins are created and food becomes less healthy. This recipe is so simple, it almost does not seem like a recipe. There are only 5 ingredients.
Ingredients:
- One grass fed/pastured chicken, cut into pieces
- sea salt
- black pepper
- filtered water
- 2 tbsp. Braggs raw apple cider vinegar
- other spices (optional)
Directions:
- Add rinsed chicken pieces to crock pot
- Sprinkle chicken with sea salt and black pepper
- Add water to 2/3 the height of the chicken
- Add apple cider vinegar ( helps create gelatin from chicken bones, which is extremely healing and healthy )
- Top chicken with basil, garlic, paprika and/or other desired spices (optional)
- Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours and enjoy a delicious, healthy main course!
- After enjoying chicken, the delicious, healthy chicken broth may/should be saved by pouring through a stainless steel soup strainer into a mason jar. It helps to first pour broth into a 4 or 8 cup glass measuring cup and then pour into a mason jar
- The broth should be stored overnight in the refrigerator to cool ( it should be thick and gelatin like when cooled )
- Use the broth immediately or freeze for later use as a base for soups or stews. For soup, add equal amounts of filtered water to the broth, and cut up veggies such as carrots, celery, onions, broccoli, green beans, cauliflower rice, and/or potatoes. Simply bring soup to low boil until veggies are cooked, adding sea salt and black pepper to taste and you have a delicious, healing soup
