The nutritional profile of 100% grass fed beef is high. Pastured beef provides essential nutrients that other foods do not contain and is part of a healthy diet. Grass fed meat contain more omega 3 fatty acids, conjugated linoleic acid, vitamins A and E compared to grain fed beef. These nutrients are considered anti- cancer and heart healthy.

Delicious Beef Chili

With the cold winter weather and Super Bowl this weekend, it’s a great time to make a hot pot of healthy chili. Several weeks ago I scoured the internet for delicious, nutrient dense versions of a meat based chili recipe. I took the best of several recipes to make my own special chili, flavorful and spicy, made with healthy organic ingredients. I waited with anticipation for responses to the first bites and they were positive! Touchdown! I’m actually not personally a big football fan, but I do enjoy eating and now cooking my own favorite chili during the cooler months.

The Joys and Adventure of Home Brewed Kombucha Tea

How To Eat Organic in the Holy Land

Our Favorite Tel Aviv Juicer

Our Favorite Tel Aviv Juicer

Recently, I had the amazing opportunity to spend 3 weeks touring Israel with my family. I also spent one day visiting the sites of Petra in Jordan.

With my transition to a nutrient dense, organic diet, an important question arose for me. How would I enjoy my travels while also eating well in the holy land?  I asked some of my friends, who are more frequent visitors to Israel,  and I also used my trusted friend “google”. I found a gluten free Israel FB group and joined, since one family member is gluten free.  Because one daughter, who we met in Israel,  had spent several months in Tel Aviv prior to my trip, I also had the advantage of her on site research and knowledge of good sources of food. Delicous Real, Raw Vanilla Ice Cream

vanilla ice cream in freezer containerIce cream is loved the world over for its sweetness and creamy, cool taste.  Vanilla ice cream is a favorite dessert in our home. We enjoy it alone or occasionally combined with other sweets like warmed home made apple pie or gluten free brownies for an extra decadent treat. If I am in the mood for chocolate, I may add raw organic chocolate syrup to my ice cream. (Wilderness Family Naturals has a chocolate syrup with the cacao left intact.) Raw cacao is extremely high in anti-oxidants. Occasional desserts as part of a well balanced diet are acceptable and can be enjoyed on special occasions.

Ice cream made with real, nutrient dense ingredients is probably one of the healthiest sweets around. Continue reading
